At Point de non-retour, we make a commitment to our clients — company presidents and their leadership teams, board members and shareholders — to accelerate their growth and the realization of their vision.

We support these teams in strategic planning and in tracking its execution, through a proprietary method and a technology platform that maximize direction, alignment and velocity. Concretely, we help our clients identify their main value-creation levers, measure and predict the monetary value of their strategy in real time, and align their objectives at the most decisive moments.

Our clients range from 100 to 10,000 employees and come from every industry. 100% of our revenue is recurring, and our relationships are measured in years rather than engagements — we have been working with several of our clients for more than eight years.

Our DNA

Trust above all. Among ourselves, with our clients and with our business partners. That means being authentic, empathetic, and honouring our commitments — including the smallest ones.

Well-being as a condition of performance. We see physical and mental health as an essential ingredient of sustainable balance and performance, not as an employee perk.

Courage and tenacity. We help our clients make decisions that are informed by data and assisted by AI. That means saying what needs to be said, even when it isn’t what the room wants to hear.

The role, in one sentence

You are the constant link between our clients and our team: you prepare and facilitate meetings with leadership teams, you produce the analyses and presentations that go into them, and you progressively earn the trust that will allow you to own a client relationship.

Why this position exists. We built PNR around a small number of people our clients trust. This role exists to widen that circle. In practice, your latitude will grow at the pace of your judgment — and we have no interest in holding it back.

Your responsibilities

  • Produce the analyses, recommendations and presentations intended for executive committees and boards of directors, with the level of polish that audience demands.
  • Coordinate directly with our clients’ leadership teams: produce the agenda, confirm expected deliverables, follow up without being asked.
  • Operationalize PNR’s proprietary tools — strategic execution cycle, alignment analyses, velocity dashboards, continuous strategic planning — and draw from them the insights that feed monthly and quarterly reviews.
  • Contribute to the innovation of our solutions. Our method, our tools and our platform evolve continuously. We expect improvement ideas, prototypes and a real contribution to developing what we put in our clients’ hands — not just using it.
  • Lead the research and analysis underlying our engagements: strategic plans, target operating models, industry and competitive analyses, business cases — the content varies considerably from one client to the next.
  • Understand and challenge the measurement of value of strategic initiatives: what creates value, how much, and under what conditions.
  • Manage upward: keep the PNR team aligned and on schedule, raise early whatever isn’t going as planned, and propose rather than ask.

The profile we’re looking for

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in consulting (large firm or boutique), or in a chief-of-staff, strategic coordination or special-projects role within a high-growth company.
  • Direct and repeated exposure to senior leadership — not only behind-the-scenes analytical work.
  • A solid grasp of financial fundamentals: reading financial statements, understanding how an initiative creates value, challenging a valuation assumption. You don’t have to build the model from scratch; you do have to be able to defend its logic in front of a CFO.
  • Real comfort structuring an analysis and turning it into a clear recommendation, in industries you are discovering for the first time.
  • Authentic bilingualism: roughly 90% of our engagements are in French, but some meetings and some deliverables are entirely in English.
  • Authorization to work in Canada.

What will matter more than your résumé

These five elements are our decision criteria. We will assess them explicitly.

  • You can explain your reasoning. Facing a partner who challenges you, you can spontaneously retrace the path that led you to your conclusion: the assumptions you made, the options you set aside, and why.
  • You trace your sources. Every figure in a PNR deliverable has an origin you can name. We use AI daily and we encourage you to do the same; in exchange, whatever goes out under your name, you have verified.
  • You produce beautiful work. Our presentations go in front of boards of directors. Visual care isn’t a cosmetic detail here: it is part of the message.
  • You operate without a template. When no example exists of what you’re being asked for, you propose a structure rather than waiting to be given one.
  • You ask before guessing. The right framing question asked on Monday is worth three days of well-directed work.

Considered an asset

  • Exposure to M&A, due diligence, or operating-model redesign engagements.
  • A strong interest in AI and its advanced applications in a business strategy context.
  • A professional designation (CPA, CFA) or an MBA — useful, but neither required nor decisive in our decision.

You shouldn’t apply if

We’d rather tell you now. This role isn’t right for everyone, and that isn’t a question of talent.

  • You don’t live in Quebec. Our clients are here, and being physically present remains irreplaceable — at their offices and among ourselves. This role requires a weekly presence in Montreal and at our clients’ sites.
  • You need constant supervision and defined processes. Many of our engagements start with no template, no precedent and no playbook. It’s up to you to propose one.
  • You like routine and predictability. Our weeks rarely resemble one another: an industry you’re discovering, a client whose priority shifts, a board deadline that moves up by ten days.
  • AI is a chatbot to you rather than a value-creation engine. We use it to analyze, model, prototype and deliver. If your curiosity stops at drafting emails, you’ll find the pace hard to keep up with.
  • You’d rather apply our solutions than make them evolve. We’re looking for people who improve our tools along the way, and who accept that what they’ve built will be challenged in turn.
  • Disagreement makes you uncomfortable. We challenge our clients’ assumptions, and our own. You need the nerve to challenge in order to maximize value creation.
  • You’re looking for a well-defined specialist lane. The same week can call on strategy, finance, technology and the facilitation of leadership teams.

Our terms

  • Workplace. We have no corporate office. We meet as a team in Montreal roughly twice a week, and we are at our clients’ sites roughly once a week — sometimes not at all, sometimes twice. The rest of the time is yours.
  • Compensation. Base salary depending on experience, with performance-based variable compensation.
  • Scope. Three to four client accounts, with growing responsibility as trust builds.

Our selection process

  1. Screening interview (30 minutes, by video conference).
  2. Interview with a partner (60 minutes).
  3. Case and presentation: We send you a file and you have roughly one week to prepare it — you have a job, and we take that into account. This is followed by a 60-minute meeting with two members of our team. We want to see how you think, not only what you produce.
  4. Fit meeting with a second partner (45 minutes).

We move quickly when calendars allow, but finding the right person takes precedence over speed. At each stage, you’ll know where you stand and how soon we’ll get back to you.

Your profile doesn’t match every criterion perfectly?

We still invite you to submit your application and to show us, in your cover letter, how your background, your skills and your vision are a distinctive asset for our organization.
