On this week’s episode, we spoke with Michael Mire, Chief Revenue Officer @ Sweet IQ. Michael is the VP Sales of Montreal-based SweetIQ, a local search marketing platform that converts online search into in-store sales — founded in 2010. He is a born and bred entrepreneur, marketer, public speaker, and mentor. He brings to SweetIQ over ten years of experience spearheading marketing operations of several Canadian start-up companies including Experience Wifi, Microcap Trade and AdMire Marketing.
As an entrepreneur, Michael saw the potential for local search marketing. With his team, he developed a platform to do what other tools could not — drive foot traffic to brick and mortar stores in a measurable and transparent way. Born from this is SweetIQ, a platform that recognizes local search as more than listings management. It’s an innovative tool that helps companies take their business to the next level by providing them with analytics showing ROI on search marketing investments. With his team, Michael built SweetIQ from two to 100 full-time employees in the past six years – making the start-up his proudest accomplishment after his family.
In his spare time, Michael tends to his young family and mentors the future of Montreal’s start-up scene. He loves to ski and is a self-professed motor sports enthusiast.
On the show we spoke about:
- How SweetIQ shifted from a service based agency to a software company
- The growth story behind their success and how they’ve scaled to over 140 employees today
- The lessons he learned along the way including funding milestones
- How he reverse engineers the ideal end state for his company
- The future of the local marketing space include M&A and artificial intelligence
Michael was very generous with his time and insights. He’s a classic example of a successful entrepreneur that takes risks and seeks to constantly improve. I learned a lot that I can apply to my own business. I hope that you do the same.
