I don’t agree with many of the conclusions in this article, but there is a growing trend in the media; the big four tech companies have grown too big and powerful – they must be broken up. While I agree with the fact that the Power Law is in full effect here, what to do about it is not as clear.

I really loved this article. It’s the story of the no-nonsense CEO that helped turn around Domino’s pizza. It includes many great tidbits of wisdom about hard work, being transparent and telling the truth.

 

Microsoft’s Monopoly Hangover                  Stratechery

Another great article by Ben Thompson that draws a comparison between IBM and Microsoft’s monopoly. My biggest takeaway from the article is that these two companies had to realize who they were (i.e. their identity) before making a strategic shift.

 

The Most Digital Companies Are Leaving All the Rest Behind     Harvard Business Review

Interesting HBR and McKinsey research on digital maturity in organizations. A widening gap exists between the “haves” and the “have-mores”: companies and sectors that are using their digital capabilities far more than the rest to innovate and transform how they operate.

 

The Four – What To Do         Scott Galloway, YouTube

Along the same lines of the first article, Scott from L2 argues that the big four have become too powerful. He goes one step further by suggesting that one of the big four is starting to pull away: Amazon. Scott conducts an in-depth analysis of how Amazon will be the first trillion dollar company.
