Superb analysis of the strategic dynamics in autonomous vehicles. Ben Evans examines the network effects, will there be a winner-takes-all effect? If there are, it will in the data, more specifically in driving data and in maps. This prompts two questions: who gets that data, and how much do you need?

 

Inside Waymo’s Secret World for Training Self-Driving Cars      The Atlantic

A fascinating read into Google’s self-driving car program. The Atlantic obtained access deep into Waymo (an Alphabet company) trying to make self-driving cars a reality. I learned a few interesting things including how they train the algorithms in virtual worlds.

 

The centre cannot hold: The shift towards decentralized systems         Betakit

Great read by Todd Simpson, venture partner at iNovia Capital. Todd argues that we are moving more and more towards decentralized systems. The advent of technologies like Blockchain, AI and robotics are enabling a different kind of competitive advantage.
